Goodbye to my Grandpa

My Grandpa Shipley passed away early yesterday morning. It is a blessing for him to finally go. The family had to put him in an assisted living facility about 4 months ago. He has not liked it. He was 94 years old and had lived on his own until that point. This is a 5 generation picture we got this past summer with my dad and Melissa and Bailey. I'm sure glad we were able to get it . I am also glad that I was able to know my grandfather for as long as I was. He was a great father and grandfather. I am really blessed to have been born into his family. I know he is happy now and with my grandma, who passed away almost 23 years ago.

Jake is home!!!
I can't believe he is finally home! There was a 2 hour delay in his flight and so we just waited it out in the airport. Most of the extended family made it as well so we just caught up with each other while we waited. I tried to post more pictures but this was all it would let me . Jake looked soooo good. His eyes had a brightness to them and with a grin from ear to ear, you couldn't tell that he had been up for almost 2 days to get home. Melissa didn't get to come to the airport because she was in Wyoming with Paul, but they made it the next morning and Jake finally got to meet Bailey. They get along great!

Kimi and Kensey teaching grandma how to pose.
Grand pa, Shelly and Becci were there too, but Ted and Josh didn't make it, they had to work. Nikki and Devin, and Chris and Rachel were there as well with their little ones.
This is Kala and Kamille, Cheryl and all of her kids were there as well as Alan, so Jake got to meet him as well
Travis and Justin, playing video games. Rick didn't make it because he just bought a new house and had to close on it that night.

An evening of "boarding"

We got to go to the hills this last Tuseday, as our ward had a "ski" party. It was great fun and the weather was great. The skies were blue, well at first but because it was night skiing it didn't last long and as soon as the sun went down it got pretty cold. At least it wasn't snowing. The trees looked all frosty so I took a picture of them. Kamille was moving too fast to get much of a picture of her. She wasn't very cooperative. And Travis had some equipment malfunctions and it got too dark to get a good shot of him until we got home. By then he was tired as you can see. He just wanted to go to bed.

Well, tomorrow is the day! Jake will be home and we will be up for some new adventures as a new "pecking" order will have to be established again. I don't know if he will be around alot, but we will take what we can get. I bet I won't get much sleep tonight ;-) or tomorrow night for that matter!

A lot of the white stuff!

Wow, we got dumped on yesterday. It snowed most of the day! They even canceled church, it takes a lot to do that. We had a "snow" day today too. So the kids have actually been out of school for four days in a row, because last Friday they were out too because of the wind blowing some mighty fine drifts. It is a beautiful day today though. The sky is super blue and there is no wind. Makes me want to hit the slopes, if we could only get there. The plows haven't been by yet. We have a nice neighbor that plowed our driveway out though. It is now 11 days until Jake comes home. He will be excited to see all the snow. I am sure he will be hitting the slopes when he gets home. He's going to have to dust off his snowboard though.
